A WW2 period US navy Mk1 fighting knife by Camillus New York. Five inch unfullered bowie style blade is engraved to the left side CAMILLUS N.Y. Steel cross guard with leather handle and hard plastic pommel retained by a steel nut. In its correct original brown leather scabbard with brass fittings designed to be carried on the left as a duty / combat knife. Originally designed and issued to the men of the US navy before the war as a general purpose knife for use on board ship these handy and well balanced knives proved to be very useful in combat as well and saw wide service with both sailors and marines in the Far East theatre. In good used service condition with very good grip and pommel, good scabbard with no cuts or splits and the blade lightly cleaned over during its life. A nice American navy knife by the most famous of the many makers who supplied these knives during the war.
